Enqoqelesh /Riddle /: One way to improve our kids language skills

If you grew up in Ethiopia, you most definitely enjoyed playing “Enqoqelesh”. As children we not only learned new words playing “Enqoqelesh”, but we have also practiced how forming short but meaningful sentence and improved our grammar. As parents raising our children abroad, we face many challenges especially when it comes to teaching our kids Amharic. Well how about “Enqoqelesh”? How nice would it be to challenge your kids to use the little Amharic they know to form a clever hint or solve a riddle or an “Enqoqelesh”. “Enqoqelesh” is a nice game to play and interact with our kids while developing their Amharic vocabulary and grammar.

The most common “Enqoqelesh” that would come, at least for me is the one about BAKELA or black eyed pea and it goes like this.

Player 1 - “Enqoqelesh”
Player 2 – “Men Awkilish?” ( What do I know?)
Player 1 – “Ayenuan Tekukula Gebeya Yemitweta?” (One that goes to market with eye liner make up on?)
Player 2 – “BAKELA!” ( Black eyed pea!)

If player 2 did not know the answer he should give/ name a country for player 1 and player 1 replies like as follows.

Player 2 – Addis Baba’n Setichehalehu. (I give you Addis Ababa.)
Player 1 – Addis Ababa gebeche tedesch Melsu Bakela new. (I would be happy to go to Addis Ababa! The answer is Black eyed pea)

Another Enqoqelesh

Player 1 - “Enqoqelesh”
Player 2 – “Men Awkilish?” ( What do I know?)
Player 1 – “Tseguruan Abetira Gebeya Yemitweta?” (One that goes to market with with combed hair?)
Player 2 – “SUFF!” ( Sunflower Seed!)

Sure these Enqoqeleshs may make no sense in English as they would in Amharic and the cultural context. However, we can create suitable Enqoqeleshs that our children can understand and enjoy. An example would be:

Player 1 - “Enqoqelesh”
Player 2 – “Men Awkilish?” ( What do I know?)
Player 1 –Aba hulun ye emisalemut. (What Aba to bless us with?)
Player 2 – “MESQEL!” ( the cross!)

ለአዳጊ ልጆች ትምህርት እና ዕድገት የሚሆኑ ጥቂት የቋንቋ እና ሃይማኖት መማርያ መጽሐፍት፤ እና ቁሳቁሶች በአዳጊዎች ትምህርት ክፍል ይገኛሉ፡፡ ያሉትን የላይብረሪ ሀብቶች ለመጠቀም፤ የሚመጡትንም ለማስተዳደር የበጎ ፈቃድ አገልግሎት የምትሰጠው ወ/ሮ ወይንሸት ናት፡፡

 

በቀጣይ ሳምንታት ውስጥም ለወላጆች ስለ ላይብሪው አጠቃቀም መሠረታዊ ሕጎች የሚገልጽ ደብዳቤ የሚላክላቸው ሲሆን፤ ወላጆች ላይብረሪውን ለመጠቀምም ሆነ ለማጠናከር ማድረግ ስለሚፈልጉት እገዛ እና ልገሳ፤ ወ/ሮ ወይንእሽትን እንዲያነጋግሩ እንጠይቃለን፡፡

ስለ ላይብረሪው መሰረታዊ ሕጎች እና አሁን ስላሉ መጽሐፍት ዝርዝርለማወቅ ይህንን ይጫኑ

ተማሪዎች ጥያቄ ጠይቁ ሲባሉ…

የመሠረተ ሃይማኖት ክፍል ተማሪዎች፤ ዛሬ ስለተማሩት ትምህርት ብቻ ሳይሆን፤ በጠቅላላ በሃይማኖት ዙርያ መልስ ማግኘት ያቃታቸውን ጥያቄዎች እንዲጠይቁ እድል ተሰጣቸው፡፡  ልጆቹም የተሰጣቸውን እድል አላባከኑም፤ ሁሉም ወረቀት እና ብዕሩን አገናኝቶ፤ ጥያቄ መጻፍ ጀመሩ፡፡ በእጅ የጻፉትን ማየት ከፈለጋችሁ ይህንን ተጫኑ፡፡

1.      When you die where do you go?    (ላ. አ)

2.      If God created the world, who created him? Why do church names start with ቤተ?   (S.)

3.      To go to heaven, do you need to believe only or do you have follow the Ten Commandments too? (A. M.)

4.      In one of the scripture readings of the New Testaments, Jesus as a boy was bored. So with clay he made a living Pigeon. Later people decided to cut that part of the scripture out. Why did they do that Knowing this was second time of Creation?   (U. S)

5.      How come there aren’t any girl preists? (L.)

6.      Why can’t we wash after ቁርባን? Why did people hate Jesus? Why did God tell Jonah to go to ነነዌ?   (B.H.)

7.      Is there such thing as Reincarnation of souls?   (H.Y.)

8.      Do the pries wear the cloth they wear a church always? (B.)

9.      What is Jesus name in Amharic? (D. H.)

10.  Was Satan an angel?  If Satan was a angel what was his name before? Why do the priests wear the gowns? (B.G.)  

11.  Why can’t girls pour holly water in a cup and handle it like boys do? Why can’t you eat or drink before you take the holy flesh and blood? (M. S.)

12.  Has any body seen God other than in Dreams? Are we all related since we came from Adam and Eve? (B.T.)

 የልጅን ጥያቄ፤ ልጅ በሚገባው መንገድ መመለስ ግድ ነውና፤ እኛም መምህራን ጠይቀን ያገኘነውን መልስ ከጥያቄዎቹ ቀጥሎ እንለጥፋለን፡፡ወደፊት፡፡

የሁለተኛ ሩብ ዓመት ፈተናዎች

ዛሬ ተማሪዎች የሁለተኛ ሩብ ዓመት የቋንቋ እና የሃይማኖት ፈተናዎችን ወስደዋል፡፡

ዛሬ በተለያየ ምክንያት ፈተናውን ሊቀበሉ ላልቻሉ ተማሪዎች፤ ፈተናዎቹ ከዚህ በታች ባሉት ሊንኮች ላይ ተቀምጠዋል፡፡

የፊደል ቤት  ተማሪዎች (የቋንቋ እና የሃይማኖት) ፈተናንለማግኘት ይህንን ይጫኑ

የንባብ ቤት  ተማሪዎች የቋንቋ  እና የሃይማኖት ፈተናን ለማግኘት ይህንን ይጫኑ

የመሠረተ ሃይማኖት ተማሪዎችን

• የቋንቋ ፈተና ለማግኘት ይህንንይጫኑ
 
• የሃይማኖት ፈተና ለማግኘትይህንን ይጫኑ

የዓምደ ሃይማኖት ተማሪዎች ፈተና አልተሰጠም

ፈተናው የመምህራኑን ጥረት ውጤት እና የተማሪዎቹን የእውቀት ደረጃ ለመለካት ቢሆንም፤ በተዛማጅ ግን  በፈተናው የሚገኘውን ውጤት መሰረት በማድረግ፤ ተመጣጣኝ ችሎታ ያላቸውን ተማሪዎች በአንድ አይነት ክፍል ለማቀፍ ለሚደረገው አዲስ የክፍል ምደባ የሚረዳ ነው፡፡

አደራ ‹‹ቅዳሴ ተማሩ››

ጓዝ ጠቆሎ፤ ከዋሽንግተን ዲ.ሲ ወደ አትላንታ መሄድ በራሱ ከባድ ቢሆንም፤ ለመምህር የሻነው ግን በጣም የከበደው፤ በሃይማኖት ኮትኩቶ ያሳደጋቸው ተማሪዎቹን ትቶ መሄድ ነው፡፡ ስለዚህም፤ ዛሬ በደብሩ የአዳጊዎች ትምህርት ክፍል በተደረገለት መጠነኛ የሽኝት ስጦታ ስነስርዓት ላይ፤ መምህር የሻነው ያደረገው ስጦታችንን መቀበል ብቻ አይደለም፤ ላስተማራቸው ተማሪዎች፤ የውዳሴ ማርያም የጸሎት መጽሐፍ ስጦታ እና የ ‹‹ቅዳሴ ተማሩ›› አደራም በመስጠትም እንጂ፡፡
